WASHINGTON, D.C. — [April 22nd, 2025] — Dr. Isabelle Vladoiu, a leading global advocate for human rights education and founder of the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights (USIDHR), has been awarded the Human and Civil Rights Award in the category of International Peace and Understanding by the Washington Education Association (WEA).

This esteemed recognition, presented by WEA — an organization that has championed equity in public education since 1889 — honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in promoting international peace and understanding, improving cross-cultural cooperation, and initiating programs that empower global communities through education.

From her roots in Romania to becoming a renowned human rights educator in Washington, D.C., Dr. Vladoiu’s mission has remained constant: to make human rights education accessible to all. Through USIDHR, she has led initiatives that have trained more than 24,000 individuals in 136 countries, equipping them with the tools to become effective advocates, educators, and changemakers in their communities.
