Edu for Every Child is a program dedicated to providing resources and materials to children from low-income families so they can attend school. With 258 million children not attending school, USIDHR supports vulnerable young girls and boys worldwide. We are fighting poverty by giving children the opportunity to receive an education. There are 258 million children at risk, and only one in ten will ever go on record as being educated throughout their lives – but you can help us change this!
We provide Edu-Boxes with supplies for every student that includes back-to-school essentials like clothes, shoes, backpack and school supplies so they have everything needed for an entire school year!
Why EDU-BOX?
Our Edu-Boxes contain all the necessary supplies for a child to attend school for an entire year. The contents of the boxes are sourced locally and prepared by our in-country partners, based on the cultural and social needs of each country. These are some of the items that the boxes contain: School Backpack, Shoes, Uniform, Lunch box, Notebooks, Pencil case, and other school supplies.
Where do funds go?
At our nonprofit, we understand the immense impact that education can have on a child’s life. That’s why we collect funds in two ways: through donations and our program services. With your donations, we can ensure that 100% of the funds go directly to children from low-income families, providing them with the resources they need to attend school and break the cycle of poverty.
But the demand for education is so high that we also supplement our Edu for Every Child campaign with funds from our program services. By investing in our courses, training, and coaching services, you’re not only gaining valuable knowledge and skills but also helping us reach more kids faster. Romania, 2025
USIDHR Regional Director for Romania, Filip Teodor, partnered with Rotaract Kronstadt to organize the sixth edition of Spiridușii Moșului, a community initiative carried out in collaboration with USIDHR. Through the project, more than 250 gifts were distributed to children at Măieruș Elementary School, supporting students from underserved backgrounds.
The initiative demonstrated strong community engagement in Brașov and showed how local partnerships can create meaningful moments of care, inclusion, and encouragement for children in need.
Haiti, 2025
On December 13, 2025, a graduation ceremony was held at the Karibe Convention Center Hotel for 286 adolescents and young people from displaced sites and hard-to-reach communities in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. The initiative was organized by OCCED’H in partnership with UNICEF Haiti, with funding support from USIDHR and Education Cannot Wait, and technical support from the National Institute of Vocational Training.
Since July, participants completed vocational training programs aimed at strengthening autonomy and employability, including cosmetology, mobile phone repair, handicrafts, and motorcycle mechanics. The graduation ceremony brought together representatives from the diplomatic corps, United Nations agencies, and civil society organizations, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding education and economic opportunity for youth in vulnerable communities.
Kenya, 2025
Under the leadership of Regional Director Judy Oricho, USIDHR's Edu for Every Child Program successfully delivered educational support to 80 students at Bulanda School in Busia County, Kenya. The initiative provided uniforms to 40 children, distributed books to 20 students, and supplied lockers and chairs to an additional 20 students. This targeted intervention addressed key educational barriers by ensuring access to essential school supplies, proper attire, and adequate learning infrastructure, thereby supporting improved educational outcomes for underserved students in the region.
Kenya, 2025
Another Back to School program was carried out in Kenya, led by USIDHR Regional Director Ms. Judy Oricho in partnership with Scoon – Kenya. The initiative engaged hundreds of children in activities that promoted both education and sustainability. Key components included the provision of scholarships to help pupils continue their studies, support for students preparing for final examinations, and the launch of Tree Planting Week, during which seedlings were donated and planted in schools. The program reflected USIDHR’s commitment to empowering children through education and fostering environmental awareness as a pathway to long-term societal growth.
Haiti, 2025
A Back to School Celebration was held in Haiti under the leadership of USIDHR Regional Director Mrs. Luca Chrislie, who also serves as President of Occedh Haïti. In partnership with USIDHR, UNICEF, and the Government of Haiti, the initiative distributed thousands of backpacks and school supplies to help children start the academic year prepared and supported.
The effort strengthened access to education for children and families and reinforced education as a pathway to stability, hope, and opportunity. Through initiatives like this, USIDHR advanced its mission to help children learn, grow, and thrive.
Romania, 2025
The Edu Box campaign continued this year through an outreach initiative in Romania, providing educational support to children in underserved communities. In partnership with Asociația D.A.R. and its President, Cristina Herea, USIDHR distributed backpacks and essential school supplies to more than 150 children.
The initiative reinforced USIDHR’s commitment to expanding access to education and supporting meaningful learning opportunities for every child.
Romania, 2025
USIDHR conducted outreach activities in Romania through the Edu for Every Child program in the Suceava region, co-sponsoring projects initiated by Fight for Freedom International and its president, Mr. Gheorghe Ignat. The initiative included two school visits as well as a visit to a specialized center for children with disabilities.
Across all locations, children received educational materials, reinforcing USIDHR’s commitment to inclusive education and equal learning opportunities for every child.
Haiti, 2024
Our Edu For Every Child program is off to a powerful start in 2024! Thanks to your support, we've reached over 400 children in Haiti, and expanded our reach to children rescued from conflict areas. We express our heartfelt gratitude to USIDHR Regional Director in Haiti, Ms. Chrislie Luca and our incredible partners and their volunteers at OCCEDH for their unwavering dedication! Together, we've provided Edu Boxes to those in need, ensuring access to education. But our journey doesn't stop here. Romania, 2023
Empowering futures, one meal at a time! In impoverished Transylvanian communities, our initiative, 'Edu for Every Child - Romania,' ensured a lifeline for 200 children in need. Over three months, we delivered daily hot meals, offering nourishment and support to enhance their educational journey.
Peru, 2022
The USIDHR team continued to fight for all children worldwide to reclaim their right to an education. One in every four Peruvians does not have enough money to meet their basic needs. So USIDHR gave financial support and helped 250 unprivileged children
receive educational supplies and toys for Christmas.
Mexico, 2022
USIDHR continued their support for kids at risk of poverty that have a hard time continue their studies. We have helped another 100 children of various ages at a school in Mexico City.
Ukraine, 2022
USIDHR team traveled to Romania on a humanitarian mission in March 2022, immediately after the war started in Ukraine, to support Ukrainian mothers and children arriving daily at the CATTIA Refugee Center in Brasov, Romania. While many organizations focused their efforts on other regions, such as Poland, Germany, and Austria, USIDHR aimed to help the the poorest and those who cannot travel long distances at one time come to centers such as this. In partnership with Pro Afaceri, the Brasov City Hall, and the Center for Integration of Migrants Brasov, USIDHR provided much-needed supplies such as food, baby formula, milk and water. Also, USIDHR team delivered a FREE human trafficking prevention training for the center staff, volunteers, and Ukrainian refugees to help equip them how to protect themselves and their loved ones against the dangers of human trafficking.
Romania, 2022
USIDHR has supported 100 special needs children from Romania. Together with our country partners from St. Parascheva Orthodox Charity in Chicago, and Colegiul Sf. Nicolae, we were able to bring the Edu Boxes to Romania at special needs school from Botosani and help 100 Romanian children in danger of getting their education disrupted due to lack of resources. They all received Edu-boxes containing special education materials and classroom supplies as requested by the teachers, as well as shoes and clothing for the Winter.
Pakistan, 2021
USIDHR has supported 200 vulnerable children ages 10-17 from rural areas in Pakistan. Together with our in-country partners from MAPS, we were able to bring the Edu Boxes to Pakistan and help 200 Pakistani children in danger of getting their education disrupted due to lack of resources. Children from different schools and different areas were identified and selected to be a part of the program. They all received Edu-boxes containing uniforms, shoes backpacks, school notebooks, supplies and more.
