US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights Hosts Exclusive Private Diplomatic Roundtable Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Queen Marie of Romania's Historic Visit to the United States
Co-hosted with Association DAR, the gathering brought together representatives from more than 25 embassies and international diplomatic missions at USIDHR Headquarters in Washington, DC
WASHINGTON, DC — The US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights (USIDHR) proudly co-hosted an exclusive Private Diplomatic Roundtable at its Washington, DC headquarters, in partnership with Association DAR. The gathering commemorated the 100th Anniversary of Queen Marie of Romania's historic visit to the United States, bringing together diplomats, embassy representatives, UN delegates, international leaders, and members of the diplomatic corps from across the globe.

With representatives connected to more than 25 embassies and international diplomatic missions present, the roundtable created a rare environment for high-level dialogue on cultural diplomacy, global leadership, cross-cultural engagement, and international cooperation — the very ideals championed by Queen Marie of Romania a century ago.
The event featured distinguished remarks from Ambassador Dr. Hugues Sanon, representative of the Council for Justice, Equality and Peace; Mrs. Chahinda Emadeldin Hassan, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Egypt; Mrs. Lynreshay Johnson, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of The Bahamas; and Mrs. Andreea Rebaltescu, Founder and CEO of Sun Media Shine, who also delivered a moving private performance of a beloved Romanian song that brought culture and diplomacy together in an unforgettable moment.
"Diplomacy at its finest is not a formality — it is a human act," said Dr. Isabelle Vladoiu, Chairwoman of the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights. "When representatives from more than 25 nations gather not to negotiate, but to listen, to share, and to understand one another, something powerful happens. Queen Marie of Romania understood this a century ago. She crossed an ocean not with demands, but with dignity, and the world received her because of it. What we built in that room was a continuation of that legacy — a reminder that the most enduring diplomatic achievements are not signed on paper. They are built between people."
The roundtable also honored the long-standing humanitarian partnership between USIDHR and Association DAR, through which hundreds of underprivileged children in Romania have received access to education and essential school supplies through the institute's Edu for Every Child initiative.
USIDHR extends its deepest gratitude to Cristina Herea, Founder of Association DAR, for co-hosting the event and for bringing a distinguished Romanian delegation to Washington, DC, strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Romania and the United States.
