Mark America’s 250th Anniversary with a USIDHR Commemorative Coin

A limited-edition keepsake honoring this historic year and the people who stand behind diplomacy, human rights, and children’s education.

A commemorative challenge coin is a small keepsake that represents a shared moment, community, or commitment. USIDHR created this two-sided coin for America’s 250th anniversary as a lasting reminder of the milestone and your support for our mission. Only 200 were minted.

A Quarter-Millennium, Marked in Metal

Countries do not turn 250 often. The United States does it once, in 2026, and then never again.

Coins are how nations have always marked moments like this — struck in a specific year, carrying a specific date, and outliving everyone who held them. The dates on this one read 1776 to 2026. The Capitol dome sits under the official America 250 seal. It is a physical object from a year that will be written about for the next two centuries.

We chose to mark that anniversary the way we think it should be marked: not with a celebration, but with a contribution. Two hundred and fifty years of arguing about liberty and human dignity means very little if a child in Haiti still cannot get to a classroom. So the coin does two things at once. It commemorates the anniversary, and it pays for the work.

Why We Need You on This One

Last year's coin campaign fell short of what our programs needed. We are telling you that plainly, because the alternative is to ask quietly and hope.

Here is what the gap costs. Our Edu for Every Child program reached over 400 children in Haiti and 200 in Romania with Edu-Boxes — school supplies, shoes, a backpack, everything a child needs to attend school for a full year. There are 258 million children worldwide out of school. Every coin claimed is another box packed.

A commemorative coin is a nice thing to own. That is not why we made it. We made it because 200 people giving $50 changes what we can do in the field next year, and because an object you keep on your desk asks you the question again every morning.

What You'll Hold

Front: the hummingbird inside the globe, ringed by the words US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights. Rights defended by people who choose dialogue before force.

Back: the Capitol dome under a sunburst, the America 250 seal above it, and 1776 – 2026 below. Gold-tone, navy enamel, struck as a two-sided challenge coin.

Keep it on your desk. Hand it to someone you are trying to convince. Award it inside your organization. It is a conversation that starts itself.

More about our Humanitarian Programs that You'll be Supporting

Edu for Every Child

USIDHR, through its EduforEveryChild program, provides resources to

support children from low-income families with the opportunity to attend school. We are fighting poverty by giving children the opportunity to receive an education. There are 258 million children at risk, and only one in ten will ever go on record as being educated throughout their lives – but you can help us change this!

We provide Edu-Boxes with supplies for every student that includes back-to-school essentials like clothes, shoes, backpack and school supplies so they have everything needed for an entire school year!

Haiti, 2024

Our Edu For Every Child program is off to a powerful start in 2024! Thanks to your support, we've reached over 400 children in Haiti, and expanded our reach to children rescued from conflict areas. We express our heartfelt gratitude to USIDHR Regional Director in Haiti, Ms. Chrislie Luca and our incredible partners and their volunteers at OCCEDH for their unwavering dedication! Together, we've provided Edu Boxes to those in need, ensuring access to education. But our journey doesn't stop here. With 258 million children worldwide in need of educational support, our mission continues. Thank you to all our donors and supporters for making this possible! Your generosity fuels our impact. Let's keep empowering every child through education! Follow our impact and donate to Edu for Every Child above.

Romania, 2023

Empowering futures, one meal at a time! In impoverished Transylvanian communities, our initiative, 'Edu for Every Child - Romania,' ensured a lifeline for 200 children in need. Over three months, we delivered daily hot meals, offering nourishment and support to enhance their educational journey.

Peru, 2022

The USIDHR team continued to fight for all children worldwide to reclaim their right to an education. One in every four Peruvians does not have enough money to meet their basic needs. So USIDHR gave financial support and helped 250 unprivileged children
receive educational supplies and toys for Christmas.
